If people no longer expect objectivity from their political and legal systems, then all justice will be reduced to a power struggle between conflicting and irreconcilable perspectives, a struggle in which the most dominant and pervasive bias will replace fair and impartial process as the character of justice. But if objectivity in law and politics is everywhere supplanted by conflict between subjective interests, then the side of economic privilege and established authority will always retain dominance. A society in which people no longer expect representatives of its major institutions even to attempt to render objectivity in their professional demeanours is a society whose major institutions are in a crisis of ethical legitimacy. In such a society, there is wide spread cynicism regarding the possibility of fair political process because it seems impossible that impartial, unbiased dispositions could exist to enact such processes.

Social Media in China Is ‘War,’ Says Communist Official
" Li gives a sobering response: “Psychological warfare, legal warfare, and public opinion warfare are all important tools for modern warfighting. Doing battle on microblogs is also within the ‘three warfares’ category.” "
" The Chinese Communist Party is known to carry out an intensive and intricate policy of Internet surveillance and censorship; as well as deleting posts, the regime also hires an untold number of online commentators, called the “50 cent party,” (for the amount they’re putatively paid per post) whose job it is to steer public opinion. "
Communist Party members seem to be suffering a mental illness. Why do communist party members insist on trying to impose totalitarianism on the globe? So much effort to load every comment board with communist propaganda all because they are so determined to try and control public opinion, all so they can impose a system of dictatorship that will only lead to more human suffering.
Message to communist party thugs, nothing good will come of being an extremist, nothing good will come of trying to eliminate your "opposition". If you were enlightened you would understand that the members of the community that disagree with you are not your enemy. Constitutionally protected human rights and democratic governance are social innovations that create tremendous value for society. When you abandon totalitarianism you allow intellectuals to contribute to the betterment of us all.
If people like Hitler, Stalin and Mao had not embraced such madness, think of how much better we would all be better off today. What is the point of all this? What do these madmen hope to accomplish? Where do we want to be as a world? I'm willing to bet most of us, down at the peasant level, want to love one another. How can that be accomplished if the communist party policy is to put so many resources into stamping out dissent? Why resist constitutionally protected human rights for all citizens? If you want to serve the people then you must end the violence against the people, and this can only be accomplished if they have human rights protected by the constitution? This is not a "Western idea", its just an idea. An idea can not be assigned an identity. To deny an idea based upon the "identity" of the creator is the definition of insanity.
If you want to serve the people, you must become a better human being.
End political repression now. Tear down this wall.
The cost of lost human potential is the price of political repression.
Compassion is Sanity.

Snowden’s Disclosures Tar US With Beijing’s Brush
Accusations suggest false moral equivalence
I don't like this brave new world any more than you do, but the reality is if America would disarm its Signals Intelligence it would not make a dam difference for your privacy since China would still be running its own versions of "PRISM". This capability is a lot like nuclear weapons, if one party unilaterally disarms it only creates incentive for conflict to occur.
If Edward Snowden really wanted to protect us from an architecture of oppression why would he defect to Communist China? This looks like a carefully orchestrated phy-op.
Why defect to a completely controlled police state so you can lecture the world on police states?
Of course the privacy issues raised by Snowden are fair comment in a democratic society, but this entire scenario looks completely staged.
Signals intelligence, with proper checks and balances, is a tool that could be used for good or evil.
These are strange times, the world needs good people, so do all you can to make it good.
While America badly needs reform, Americans still have a lot of freedom that people in China don't have. It just doesn't seem to promote the cause of freedom for Snowden to become a propaganda instrument of the Chinese regime. The Snowden case looks like a highly successful and well thought out/carefully planned "public opinion warfare" operation.

Gradual politicization of Canadian security apparatus threat to independent state
Senior Mounties told not to meet MPs without prior approval
"Specifically, they are to notify a liaison office that co-ordinates RCMP strategy with the office of Public Safety Minister Vic Toews."
"It's not appropriate for the government to reach into the police operation. It's a very, very fundamental part of what we must be assured exists so that the police aren't doing the work of the government, they're doing the work of the public."
" Garrison, who is the NDP critic for public safety, said "these memos raise some very serious concerns about whether the government is interfering in the operations of the RCMP to try and assist in controlling their political message. So I think it's very serious." "
" Liberal Senator Grant Mitchell, critic for an RCMP reform bill, C-42, said he feared the "politicization of the police force." "
Spy watchdog shouldn't work for Manning Centre, NDP says
"Non-partisan federal appointment conflicts with role as director for conservative think tank"
"Duncan then asked whether the Canada Revenue Agency would investigate the political activities of the Manning Centre, which is a federally registered non-profit organization, although it does not issue any tax receipts and is not a registered charity."
Government Response:
"That would be unlawful, and it would be inappropriate, and it's bizarre that the NDP would suggest it," said Kenney, who repesents a Calgary riding.
The government makes a response that it would be unlawful to investigate the political nature of a non-profit organization that is organized to funnel industry money into training loyal conservative party goons, just after it spend $8 million taxpayer dollars investigating environmental charities for their alleged political activities.
" In its own words, the Manning Centre for Building Democracy, which runs a "state of the art training centre" in downtown Calgary, is "dedicated to building Canada’s conservative movement – by strengthening the knowledge, skills, ethical foundations, and networks of political practitioners." "

What about the Government using the CRA against David Suzuki:
Suzuki forges onward despite Tory cuts, CRA audits
"David Suzuki says he finally feels free to speak his mind since stepping down six months ago as a director of his namesake environmental charity, which he founded more than 20 years ago."
" “It’s very demoralizing, because so much of that resource then is dedicated to that process, and the last time we were audited I think it cost over $100,000 of our money to do that, so it’s a very expensive, punitive thing that can be done,” he said. "
"The foundation has been audited three times before. A recent internal review of the its finances found less than one per cent of its resources are dedicated to political activity — well within the 10 per cent legal limit."
One year and $5 million later, Harper’s charity crackdown nets just one bad egg
"An $8-million pot of money included in last year’s federal budget to crack down on charities suspected of engaging in “excessive” political activities has so far resulted in only one having its charitable status revoked, out of nearly 900 that were audited."
"Environmental charities were widely reported to be the primary target of ramped up compliance measures after Natural Resources Minister Joe Oliver said environmental and other “radical groups” were trying to undermine the national economy by blocking pipeline and other fossil fuel projects."
CRA audits charitable status of Tides Canada amid Tory attack
"The charity – which had revenues of $14.5-million in 2010 – has two main funding arms. Tides Foundation finances other charities ranging from Big Brothers and Big Sisters organizations to Environmental Defence Canada, and Tides Initiatives does its educational, social and environmental work."
"Environment Minister Peter Kent raised the stakes last week when he accused an unnamed group of essentially engaging in “money laundering,” echoing attacks against Tides launched by Conservative senators and the pro-oil-industry, Conservative-connected group, EthicalOil.org."
"In the March budget, the Harper government ordered the CRA to step up its efforts on education and compliance with charities that engage in political activity. The government said then that it was responding to concerns that some charities may not be respecting the rules, and that it also intended to increase the reporting rules for charities that take money from foreign donors."
David Suzuki charity questioned for alleged partisan politics
"The David Suzuki Foundation on Tuesday became the target of a complaint to the Canada Revenue Agency, just days after its namesake co-founder stepped down amid heightened tensions between environmental charities and the Conservative government."
"A week before, David Suzuki stepped down from the foundation he helped create so he can “speak freely without fear” his words will be deemed too political, according to an open letter posted to the group’s website last week."
"Mr. Ellerton said that organizations should forgo charitable status — and all the economic benefits it brings — if they want the freedom to be political."

In each instance, they have refused to answer. "The Missing Recovery
" Foreign hires are not additions to the work force, but replacements. The corporations force their American employees to train the foreigners, and then the American employees are discharged. Obviously, if skilled employees were in short supply, they would not be laid off. Moreover, if the skills were in short supply, salaries would be bid up, not down, and the 36% of those who graduated in 2011 with a doctorate degree in engineering would not have been left unemployed. The National Science Foundation’s report, “Doctorate Recipients From U.S. Universities,” says that only 64% of the Ph.D. engineering graduates found a pay check. "" By focusing on the bottom line at all costs, corporations are destroying the US consumer market. Offshoring jobs reduces labor costs and raises profits, but it also reduces domestic consumer income, thus reducing the domestic market for the corporation’s products. For awhile the reduction in consumer income can be filled by the expansion of consumer debt, but when consumers reach their debt limit sales cannot continue to rise. The consequence of jobs offshoring is the ruination of the domestic consumer market. "
" To sum up, the corporations’ focus on the bottom line has disconnected US incomes from the production of the goods and services that the American people consume, thus weakening and ultimately destroying the domestic consumer market. The Fed’s focus on saving banks, which mindless deregulation allowed to become “too big to fail,” has created a bond market bubble of negative real interest rates and a dollar bubble in which the dollar’s exchange rate has not declined in keeping with the large increase in its supply. Both the corporations and the Fed have created a stock market bubble based on profits obtained from labor arbitrage (the substitution of cheaper foreign labor for US labor) and from banks speculating with the money that the Fed is providing to them.
This situation is untenable. Sooner or later something will pop these bubbles, and the consequences will be horrendous. "
Growth, Debt and Trade
" The current economic model assumes that perpetual growth is possible on our fragile and finite planet. This economic model is dependent on consumption and the waste that accompanies consumption means that most of what we buy is cheap and ends up in our waste streams within six month of purchase. The economy is financed by debt and debt levels are unsustainable and growing. Virtually all levels of government, individuals and families carry too much debt compared to their income. The globalized economy was made possible by cheap fossil fuels and globalized trade. Fossil fuels are no longer cheap and most countries’ economies are contracting.
BC Greens will work with British Columbians to plan for and transition to an economy based in place and community where trade is local and based in durable goods and services. "

Buchanan: World turns to Nationalism
" How does the Chinese Communist Party justify control of all of China’s institutions today — economic, political, military and cultural? If Marxism is mocked behind closed doors by a new economic elite and tens of millions of Chinese young, what can cause the nation to continue to respect and obey a Communist Party and its leaders, besides the gun?
The answer of Europe in the 1930s is China’s answer today.
Nationalism, tribalism, patriotic war if necessary, will bring the masses back. If the Chinese nation is being insulted, if ancestral lands are occupied by foreigners as in olden times, the people will rally around a regime that stands up for China. Nationalism will keep Chinese society “under control while you go forward.” "

" According to Abe, relations between China and Japan have been suffering due to unintended consequences of moves by the Communist Party of China to retain its legitimacy. China’s economic opening led to unequal prosperity, eliminating the Party’s main pillar of support, equality. To counter that, the Chinese government pursued a two-prong strategy of economic growth and patriotism. Economic growth required Beijing to expand its sourcing of commodities, moving China naturally onto the sea. Meanwhile, patriotism, tinged with anti-Japanese teaching, has come to pervade the educational system and society.Abe argued that China is pursuing a path of coercion or intimidation, particularly in the East and South China seas, as part of its resource-acquisition strategy. Anti-Japanese undercurrents in Chinese society due to the inculcation of patriotism have won domestic support for the assertive Chinese actions. "

China's unofficial extraditions from Canada
So the government doesn't want to have to go through a judge to detain people on behalf of the Communist Chinese. If this was 30 years ago and the government was meeting Soviet agents behind the publics back for the purposes of arranging extra judicial deportation to the gulags, there would have been a great national outrage. In 1939 what would have happened if it was discovered that the government had aided Nazi agents apprehend and deport people from Canada? Our country is under the influence of foreign dictators. 1) don't work with commies 2) don't bypass judicial warrants
You have to ask yourself what kind of a world do you want. Do you want a world controlled by totalitarian thugs?
The objective of the free world should be to create a world governed by compassion.
Or at least insulate ourselves in well defended freedom zones where tyrants have no reach.
China seeks unofficial extraditions from Canada: document
" OTTAWA – Legal experts are raising red flags about “disguised extraditions” after a letter obtained by Global News shows Canadian border officials met with their Chinese counterparts to discuss what to do with fugitives sought by the communist country.
“CBSA is using deportation as disguised extradition,” said Audrey Macklin, a law professor at the University of Toronto. “Essentially China is recruiting Canada to do its dirty work for it and circumventing extradition. This does not look good on CBSA or Canada.”
Extradition normally requires a country to formally request that Canada return an alleged fugitive – a decision that is made by the federal justice minister and an extradition judge.
Immigration lawyer Lorne Waldman has seen firsthand the reliability of Chinese investigators. He cross-examined one who was brought to Canada to testify at an immigration hearing.
On the stand, the Chinese official denied the 1989 Tiananmen Square massacre even though reports put the death toll in the hundreds and some in the thousands.
“Extradition puts stricter requirements on the state who is requesting extradition that it has evidence that is capable or constituting genuine criminal offence and the process it uses both to get evidence and to try an individual charged with a criminal offence meets basic human rights and fairness standards,” "
BC's Look into Mining Recruitment Fees Falls Short: Union
" The case snowballed and eventually ended up in federal court where the company was forced to release documents related to permits granted for 201 workers it planned to bring to the project from China.
Such permits require proof the company tried unsuccessfully to find Canadians for the positions and the released documents included the resumes of 300 Canadians who applied for the jobs but were not hired.
The United Steelworkers union is accusing the provincial government of misleading the public about investigating allegations Chinese miners are paying money to work in Canada.
In the letter, Deputy Minister of Tourism, Jobs and Skills Training Dave Byng said it completed its investigation into the allegations in November 2012 and found no evidence B.C.-based companies were charging fees.
In the original report by The Tyee the company found to be charging the miners, Canada CIBS Investment and Trade Group, said on its Chinese website it was a Vancouver-based company. "

Show This To Anyone That Believes That “Things Are Getting Better” In America
" Back in 1985, our trade deficit with China was approximately 6 million dollars (million with a little "m") for the entire year.
In 2012, our trade deficit with China was 315 billion dollars. That was the largest trade deficit that one nation has had with another nation in the history of the world.
In particular, our trade with China is extremely unbalanced. Today, U.S. consumers spend approximately 4 dollars on goods and services from China for every one dollar that Chinese consumers spend on goods and services from the United States.
But isn't getting cheap stuff from China good?
No, because it costs us good paying jobs.
According to the Economic Policy Institute, the United States is losing half a million jobs to China every single year.
Overall, more than 56,000 manufacturing facilities in the United States have been shut down since 2001. During 2010, manufacturing facilities in the United States were shutting down at a rate of 23 per day. How can anyone say that "things are getting better" when our economic infrastructure is being absolutely gutted? "

" We did it! The Conservative government has killed online spying legislation Bill C-30! If passed, the bill would have provided access to your private online information without a warrant, and you would have had to pay for it. "

Now the HRSDC Ministry is in court arguing it has no control over the documents, despite sending three letters to the company demanding they be released last month.
"I have been instructed to let you know that HD Mining does not intend to provide to the Minister any of the HD Mining documents that Justice Campbell is asking the Minister to produce, unless and to the extent you are able to provide some legal basis to compel those documents from the company,"
"This is a matter that goes well beyond this present case and is of concern to the company for its long‐term plans." "

" The nationwide Idle No More movement merged with ongoing protests against oil pipeline projects proposed for British Columbia, to bring more than a thousand protesters out to greet the federal review panel conducting hearings in Vancouver. "Cry for new environment laws unites Idle No More and chiefs, but not Ottawa
" At issue are two huge and complicated pieces of legislation stemming from last year's budget, of which more efficient natural resource extraction was the centrepiece.
Bill C-38, which passed in June, completely overhauls Canada's environmental assessment law, redefines protections for fish and gives the federal cabinet new decision-making powers on resource development.
C-45, the second omnibus budget bill, received royal assent in December. It overhauls protections of waterways by dramatically changing the Navigable Waters Act, as well as changing the Fisheries Act and the Hazardous Materials Information Review Act.
"Is this the appropriate thing to do for the economy at the expense of future generations?"
"We want to have a source of clean drinking water." "
Idle No More Explained
Idle No More is a grass roots movement sparked by Steven Harpers Bill C-45 Omnibus bill that removes protection for Canadian Waterways and makes it easier for Chinese Government directed companies to take over Canadian Resources.Bill C 45- Fed Govt: More Control Over Reserves: Violations of Rights
"C-45 would bring significant changes to the Indian Act, including changes to land management on reserves which will make it easier for the federal government to control reserve land and reducing the protection of millions of lakes and rivers. In all it’s another bill to control land and control water perpatuating Agenda 21. "Idle No More has two clear objectives:
Respect of Indigenous sovereignty / Self government for native "Indian" tribal lands
Protection of the land and water / prevention of irresponsible resource extraction
If the objectives of the movement are met another layer of protection would be added to defend Canada from Chinese Communist Corporate takeovers, as consultation with Native's would be required before projects would go through. Seeing as how many native communities are against these resource projects, proposals such as the much hated Enbridge Pipeline would grind to a halt. That is why Patriotic Canadians across the country have embraced the Idle No More movement. Patriots will never tolerate resource giveaways to the hostile regime in Beijing.
This photo has been seen in some mainstream reports, none say anything about the China resource giveaways or opposition to them. I have seen this image in two national news reports and not one word about the Chinese flag. With all the reporters surrounding this guy no one asked or reported.

Health ministry employee made complaint that led to firings
"In March 2012, the Auditor General was anonymously notified about a range of alleged activities within the Pharmaceutical Services Division of the Ministry of Health," the report said. "The information raised questions about compliance with legal and government policy requirements, as well as with good contracting practices."Auditor General John Doyle's office started an investigation to "validate basic facts and determine whether further work was warranted" and has remained involved as the ministry did its own investigation, it said. "When the whistleblower(s) subsequently came forward (voluntarily), the Auditor General required the party to provide information, in keeping with section 16 of the Auditor General Act." ”

“Roderick MacIsaac, 46 years old, was a PhD student in the University of Victoria's school of public administration. He was on a work term at the health ministry when he and others were fired as part of an investigation Minister Margaret MacDiarmid has said involved inappropriate data sharing, contracts and undeclared potential conflicts of interest."They observed some elements that appeared to be of a suspicious nature," he said. The officers called in detectives who investigated but found "there was no apparent foul play" and the file was returned to the coroner's service, he said.
He said he could not provide details about why the death was suspicious.
MacIsaac's research involved assessing the government's smoking cessation program. In Sept. 2011, fulfilling a leadership campaign promise Christy Clark made, the government began paying for prescription drugs and nicotine replacement therapies aimed at helping people stop smoking.
The drugs include Champix, a Pfizer product that in 2008 and 2009 was the subject of safety warnings from the United States Food and Drug Administration and Health Canada. ”
Champix ? A drug with a history of making patients lose control, go on violent rampages. It's victims include a recent Canadian forces member who committed suicide after taking the drug.
Health Canada tight-lipped on Champix suicides
“ Since then, Champix has been linked to nearly 450 serious cases of these same side effects, more than 80 of which ended in hospitalization or disability. 24 suicides. The Star doesn’t know what happened after patients stopped taking Champix in the roughly 450 reported cases of suicidal ideation, depression and aggression since the beginning of 2008 because Health Canada is keeping the information secret, refusing to disclose it. ”

Chinese Generals Call For War With Just About Everyone
China’s Military Living in “Parallel Universe” – Ford
“My dealings with PLA officials at the Xiangshan Forum, however, suggest a possible (and more interesting) alternative explanation. Beijing’s various idiosyncrasies in these regards may be, in meaningful part, the relatively coherent and consistent outgrowths of a conceptual framework – an Information Age twist, if you will, on much older themes of Sinocentric moralism – in which the emerging Chinese superpower hungers to control other peoples’ narrative of China.”“To be sure, perhaps I am reading too much into a few days’ discussions. On the other hand, perhaps these encounters at the 4th Xiangshan Forum really do offer insight into an idiosyncratic Chinese approach to global order, highlighting a sort of politico-moral imperialism that has few obvious precedents outside the historical Sinosphere. Chinese leaders appear to be strongly invested in other countries’ narratives of China – seeing this as critical terrain for international competition (i.e., advantage or vulnerability) – and they seem to claim the right to control everyone else’s interpretations. If this is so, there may be important policy implications for the United States, and for China’s increasingly nervous neighbors, both about what to expect from Beijing in the years ahead, and about additional ways in which we might perhaps be able to develop effective competitive strategies vis-Ã -vis the PRC.”

Spouses of Canadian Cabinet Ministers hold portfolios of publicly-traded securities
Spouses of ministers hold portfolios of publicly-traded securities
Ottawa Citizen“The spouses of Prime Minister Stephen Harper and seven other Conservative cabinet ministers are holding portfolios of publicly-traded securities without having to put the assets into blind trusts.
Harper himself lists no stock holdings, suggesting that the couple’s financial investments are made in her name. In August, they took out a joint loan from the Bank of Nova Scotia. Its value or purpose were not publicly disclosed.
Harper’s office refused to say which stocks his wife’s portfolio contains, or whether any of them are among the Alberta energy companies whose future performance could depend on upcoming cabinet decisions about pipeline policy and Chinese investment in the oilsands.”
So politicians get to buy and sell stocks, and make decisions that affect the value of those stalks. Nexen stockholders got a 65% premium on the deal. If the politicians know ahead of time the outcome of company announcements there is really very little risk matched to a very high return.
The conflict of interest is clear. Sell Canada off and make millions as a "commission" on every transaction. We need to regulate this.
It is psychopathic to make money off of handing the world over to a totalitarian dictatorship.
ChineseFirms Bringing Own Workers a Global Pattern: Expert
“But he said usually the countries that allow Chinese firms to import their own labour or other questionable business practices are underdeveloped dictatorships, adding it's "bizarre" Canada has allowed it.
Navarro added the controversial Nexen deal also showcases ineptitude in dealing with China by Canada's leaders.
"I saw a young Trudeau supporting this and, my god, somebody needs to take him over to Africa and watch how the Chinese do business there and see what it's like," he said.
"That man is out of his depth."
The Federal Ministry of Human Resources and Development Canada has not answered three recent requests by the Tyee to clarify how many Chinese miners are already working in Hudson's Hope, B.C., a separate project than the Tumbler Ridge mine.

Chairman Harper Faces Party Revolt
CNOOC Deal a transfer of sensitive technology
So now the Chinese Communists get our most sensitive franking and deep water drilling technology.
Every day now, more revelations that the scale of the betrayal is beyond comprehension.
Encana, PetroChina form partnership to develop natural gas in Alberta
"CALGARY - Less than a week after Ottawa waved through CNOOC Ltd.'s $15.1-billion takeover of Nexen Inc., a different Chinese state-owned company is plowing another $2.2 billion into the Canadian oilpatch."
Nexen Cave-in: Chairman Harper's Economic Desperation
"These musings on bitumen's dimming prospects from a major U.S. business paper and a former deputy minister no less shed light on Harper's abrupt conversion from Chinese critic to Chinese puppet.
They also clarify why the Harper government bluntly ignored public opinion and rubber stamped the CNOOC buy-out of indebted Nexen for three times more than its actual value. CNOOC, by the way, reports to the Communist Party of China. As such the firm has little regard for transparency, human rights or offshore oil spills for that matter.
Bitumen's ailing prospects also explain the government's secretive negotiation of a one-sided investment treaty with China that could make China's highly subsidized and corrupt state owned enterprises the nation's number one foreign investors by 2017.
Harper's disregard for democratic sentiment on these issues (Canadians and Albertans in particular remain opposed to a CNOOC sell-out, let alone the trade deal) ultimately spell one word: desperation. And desperation in a bust and boom petro state, as any North African can tell you, is not a pretty thing."
If China Can Have State-Owned Energy Firms, Why Can't We?
"Apparently there's a lot wrong with public ownership of natural resources -- if you are ideologically motivated to oppose it.That may explain why the two parties that have alternated in governing Canada for more than the past century both wanted to get rid of PetroCanada.
And their lack of commitment to Canadian ownership of our own natural resources is why both Harper and the Liberal Party's heir-apparent leader Justin Trudeau both approved of the CNOOC and takeover.
So while the rest of the world reaps the rewards of public ownership of natural resources, Canada has not only gone in the opposite direction, it's also allowing foreign companies to take over what is rightfully ours."
While the substance of the TPP is cause for concern, the more immediate issue is the lack of transparency associated with both the negotiations and Canada's participation in them.
The talks remain shrouded in secrecy, with a draft text that is confidential; public interest groups are largely banned from the venue where the negotiations are being held."
